Welcome to PhenosNYC, a community resource for both seasoned urban cultivators and beginner cannabis growers.

THE MISSION

Our primary function is to share our experience and knowledge to empower our friends, neighbors and would be urban cultivators. Beginning this fall our in-person Urban Cultivation Classes provide a hands on approach to the entire experience growing the plant we love in an urban environment, safely, discretely and easily. From home, we provide the resources and materials to start learning and exploring now.

GENETICS

In order to select our unique curated varieties, we conduct community based phenotypical investigations of cannabis cultivars (strains), in order to fine tune desired effects and experience for both consumption and cultivation here in New York City.

Ok, but what does that mean? Essentially, we look at a large amount of plants from a particular cannabis genotype. Studying the growth, resilience to the environment, ease of cultivation, yield, aesthetics and of course the flavor, potency and cannabinoid spectrum. With the help of our contributors and community members we narrow that pool to a winning selection to nurture as one of our mother plants, producing exact copies and sharing among our community to continue to explore the selection.

We don’t tend to champion “hype strains” or elaborate branding, we make our selections meeting the unique local environmental needs with beneficial qualities New Yorkers actually like.

We take the guess work out of cultivating cannabis, providing resources and verified materials to get you educated and going, cultivating in a manor in-line with your likes and your home life. We get growers closer to a new profound relationship with the plant they love consuming and will love cultivating.
